According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, if USC had had its way, current San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh would be in charge of the Trojans right now, instead of Steve Sarkisian. Rapoport tweeted out that USC “made a run” at Harbaugh, who was also rumored to be involved in trade talks between his current franchise and the Cleveland Browns last week.
What I learned this week looking into the Jim Harbaugh situation: Along with the #Browns and University of Texas, USC also made a run at him

It’s a bit odd that Harbaugh, who has resurrected the 49ers franchise the past few seasons, keeps having his name pop up for other jobs. While it was probably a long shot for Harbaugh to wind up back in the Pac-12 just a few years after leaving his position with Stanford, it sure would have made for great theatre.
