Former UFC fighter turned boxer Tim Hague died at the age of 34 on Sunday.
Former UFC fighter Tim Hague died on Sunday after suffering a brain injury during a boxing match on Friday in Edmonton, Alberta.
“It is with incredible sadness, sorrow and heartbreak to report that Tim has passed away today,” his family said in a statement, per ESPN. “He was surrounded by family, listening to his favorite songs. We will miss him with so greatly. We ask for privacy during this difficult time.”
Hague suffered a knockout loss to Adam Braidwood and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Video of the fight shows Hague being knocked down several times before the fight was stopped for good in the second round.
Immediately after the fight, Hague underwent surgery to relieve pressure in his brain and was in a coma.
Hague was 21-13 with eight career knockouts in MMA before making the transition to boxing in 2011. His career record was 1-3.
