The two players who were likely the biggest reasons why the Arizona men’s basketball team had its most successful season in recent memory will not be returning to Tucson for another year.
Nick Johnson, a junior guard, and Aaron Gordon, a freshman forward, will both be foregoing eligibility and declaring for the NBA Draft. They made the move official during a Tuesday afternoon press conference.
As expected, both Aaron Gordon and Nick Johnson will enter the NBA Draft. Johnson says he will sign with an agent.

Johnson led Arizona with 16.3 points a game while also averaging 4.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists a contest. He was a first-team All-American and the Pac-12 Player of the Year. Gordon was the conference’s Freshman of the Year, averaging 12.4 points, eight rebounds and two assists per game.
Arizona, despite losing big man Brandon Ashley in February, won the Pac-12, earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, and reached the Elite Eight. The Wildcats, coached by Sean Miller, bowed out of the tourney with a loss to Wisconsin.
Both Johnson and Gordon are expected to be first round picks, with the latter player likely to be selected in the top 10.
