If you need an NBA coach, Arizona alumni are the way to go as of late. Last year, Steve Kerr took over the Golden State Warriors and immediately helped transform them into NBA Champions. His lead assistant Luke Walton coached the Warriors to start the year as he dealt with health issues, and the team went 39-4 en route to an NBA record 73-9 season. Now, Luke Walton is taking over his former team, the storied Los Angeles Lakers, and according to ESPN’s Mark Stein, he’s getting PAID.

ESPN sources say Luke Walton lands a five-year deal with the Lakers (four years guaranteed) at $5-to-6 million annually including incentives

Walton was probably the NBA’s hottest coaching commodity, and despite two disastrous seasons, the Lakers have some interesting young pieces to work with, and potentially a top draft pick this year.
