Oregon State head coach Mike Riley is expected to announce later today that redshirt junior Sean Mannion will be the Beavers starting quarterback for the season opener against Eastern Washington on Saturday. Lindsey Schnell of Oregonlive.com was among the first to report Riley’s decision. Mannion was in a competition this offseason with senior Cody Vaz, who started five games last season.

Mannion started the first eight games last year, but his season was cut short due to an knee injury that required arthroscopic surgery. During his career in Corvallis, Mannion has 18 career starts. He also was named a co-captain for the Beavers, who look to improve on their 9-4 record from a year ago.
