By most accounts, the Oregon Ducks did a great thing this weekend by wearing pink helmets, shoes, and socks against Washington State in order to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research. After the game, the Ducks’ gear was auctioned off with the proceeds going to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
One fan, however, was NOT pleased with Oregon’s decision to don pink. An unnamed caller left a voicemail for Rob Moseley, the editor of the school’s athletics website, GoDucks.com, in which he blasted Moseley and Oregon for the move. Moseley is completely awesome and recorded the audio of the voicemail and posted it on Twitter for all to enjoy.
Here are the bullet points of the fan’s criticisms:
- He thinks the team was forced to wear pink, that pink is not manly, and no players would wear it of their own accord
- This is politicizing and feminizing the game of football. People only watch football to get away from politics and feminists
- Nobody in Oregon had the gonads to say no to wearing pink. Oregon is the liberal capital of the United States, besides San Francisco
- This is all so stupid, and made him want to barf
Here’s the actual audio — it’s amazing:
So, yeah. Got this voicemail Friday. Didn’t leave a name or number. But this dude was NOT a fan of the pink helmets: https://t.co/CiFTPfd7XB
