Oregon quarterback Travis Jonsen has decided to leave the program.
Oregon quarterback and former four-star recruit Travis Jonsen has decided to transfer out of the Ducks’ football program, according to Aaron Fentress of CSNNW. The Ducks will have just one veteran quarterback on their roster as a result, as fellow QB Terry Wilson Jr. also chose to transfer out during spring practice.
Jonsen, a junior, plans to transfer to Riverside City college, where he’ll be able to play this season and then transfer to an FBS school in 2018.
His decision to transfer all but confirms sophomore Justin Herbert will be the starter for the Ducks this season. True freshman Braxton Burmeister will fill in as backup.
Jonsen, at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, was considered the No. 4 ranked dual-threat quarterback in the nation coming out of high school, per 247 Sports.
He also had offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Ole Miss and Penn State, among others, coming out of high school.
