During a late Pac-12 basketball game last night, USC’s Chimezie Metu was ejected after a very dirty play on Washington State’s Carter Skaggs.
USC had no problem knocking off Wazzu on New Year’s Eve, notching an 89-71 win. Much of that game was without Chimezie Metu.
Metu is USC’s top player, leading the Trojans in scoring (17.6 points per game), rebounds (7.6), and blocks (1.5). He is a potential high NBA Draft pick.
His most notable play last night will not be going on any highlight reels, however. After being late closing out on Washington State’s Carter Skaggs, he blatantly hit Skaggs in the groin.

That’s not how anyone wants to ring in the New Year.
Metu was assessed a Flagrant 2 foul and thrown out of the game for the hit on Skaggs, which is hard to argue with. He finished with seven points in 10 minutes of play before the ejection.
It wasn’t nearly enough to swing the game, however, as USC rolled to a big win without its star forward.
