Tee Martin is being connected to the opening at his alma mater Tennessee, and his boss Clay Helton think he will be an “excellent” head coach someday.
After the Greg Schiano debacle kept Tennessee from locking in a hire over the weekend, Tennessee is back on the hunt for the next leader of its program.
One of the hot names is USC offensive coordinator Tee Martin, an ace recruiter for the Trojans and perhaps more notably, a legendary former Tennessee quarterback.
Martin is reportedly being targeted for the job, and USC head coach Clay Helton thinks that whenever he does become a head coach, he will excel.

Martin started at quarterback for the undefeated national champion 1998 Vols team. As a coach, he has been an assistant at New Mexico and Kentucky before joining the USC staff in 2012. He started as wide receivers coach for the Trojans, and eventually added the title of passing game coordinator before becoming Helton’s offensive coordinator in 2016.
