College football fans – especially those of tradition-rich programs – are a sensitive bunch when it comes to new uniforms and helmets. USC has long worn one of the most iconic uniforms in the sport. Today, the school decided to have a little fun and pull a fast one on its fan base.
At this year’s Pac-12 Media Days, the conference had 12 different helmets on display – all featured an all-white base with grey lettering/logos. They were for display only – and will never be used in any games by any of the 12 programs.
But whoever runs USC’s Twitter account decided to put a scare into Trojans supporters, tweeting that, in fact, these were new USC helmets for the upcoming year. Once you clicked open into the tweet, it featured the hashtag #KIDDING. Well played, USC.

Nothing like a little manufactured uniform controversy for a lagging week. USC fans – did they fool you?
