UCLA blowing out USC in basketball is no surprise—UCLA is an all-time great program while the Trojans are still trying to get off of the ground under new head coach Andy Enfield. What IS new in this crosstown rivalry is Bruins fans holding football over their rivals’ heads:
Jim Mora’s UCLA football program had similar success against USC this year, knocking off the Trojans 35-14 at the Coliseum. UCLA has had a resurgence under Mora, who has won each of his first two games against USC, going 19-8. In the four previous years under former coach and current music sensation Rick Neuheisel, the Bruins accumulated a 21-30 record.
Needless to say, it’s been a good week for Bruins fans. Earlier this week they learned that Mora would not be taking the coveted job at Texas, and today they learned that star quarterback Brett Hundley is returning for another year. Hanging triple digits on the Trojans on the hardwood isn’t so bad either.
