It’s almost shocking to think that Alabama is on the outside looking in at a chance to appear in this year’s BCS National Championship Game. Widely considered the top team by most of the country all season, Alabama would need serious help to make the title game following a loss in the final second of the Iron Bowl at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Not having a chance to redeem itself in the SEC Championship really hurts the Tide.
However, there is still a slim, slim chance that Alabama could find a way to challenge for a fourth title in five years if things fall the right way this week. Michigan State would have to beat Ohio State and Missouri would have to narrowly beat Auburn in the SEC Championship game for the Crimson Tide to have a shot to get in, and even if those outcomes occurred, it still might take a miraculous Duke win over Florida State for Alabama to move up enough.
So, you’re telling me there’s a chance? Alabama wide receiver Cyrus Jones might have just come across a sign of good things to come, via the ever-prophetic fortune cookie:
Alabama fans have been spreading the photo, believing this is a beautiful bit of foreshadowing. Maybe we shouldn’t rule the Tide out yet.
