Nick Saban isn’t a huge fan of fast-paced offenses that never substitute. They take the defensive coaches out of the game, the Alabama coach, known for his defensive prowess, said at SEC Media Days in Hoover, Ala. last week.
Rich Rodriguez, the Arizona coach known for his spread-it-out, up-tempo offensive style, isn’t a supporter of that statement.
Rich Rod on Saban saying fast pace takes defensive coaches from game: “Cry me a river. No one comes to games to watch defensive coaches”

Saban and Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops seem to have a mini-rivalry stirring up following the 2013 Sugar Bowl, but the Rodriguez-Saban apparent feud appears to be a little more heated. Unfortunately, Arizona and Alabama won’t play each other this season unless they meet in the College Football Playoff, and that’s not likely to happen.
