Bret Bielema and Jeff Long are not going anywhere… at least for now.
The Razorbacks clinched their fourth win this season, on Saturday, but it was ugly.
It took everything Arkansas had to knock off one-win Coastal Carolina at home, in what was intended to be a late-season body bag game for the SEC program. Arkansas trailed by 13 in the fourth quarter before rallying to win 39-38.
It was enough to get Arkansas to 4-5 on the season, but it hardly cooled off Bielema’s seat. Now, athletic director Jeff Long could be in the same boat. According to KARK’s Tyler Thomason, the Arkansas Board of Trustees met to discuss Bielema and Long’s futures, but ultimately decided not to fire either right now.

While Bielema and Long survive to coach/lead the athletic department another day, it is pretty clear that they are both on the chopping block. Last month, it was revealed that Bielema’s buyout is not nearly as expensive as once thought.
The former Wisconsin coach is 29-31 overall and 11-26 in SEC play in his fifth season in Fayetteville. This year, Arkansas is just 1-4 in conference, with the lone win coming against a struggling Ole Miss squad.
