Earlier today, five-star guard Malik Monk chose to play for Kentucky over his home state Arkansas Razorbacks. It shouldn’t be much of a surprise when Kentucky lands a five-star player at this point, but Arkansas alumni and fans are still pretty salty about it. Bobby Portis, last year’s SEC player of the year and the 22nd pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, is clearly unimpressed by Monk’s decision. After the announcement was made, the Chicago Bulls forward made a pretty blatant subtweet of Monk.
I didn’t need Kentucky to make it to the NBA but thats none of my business

That Kermit tea emoji meme game is quite strong. While Monk could probably have made a strong NBA run from whichever team he chose, if he lives up to his talent, it is hard to blame anyone for picking Kentucky. Being a larger than life star for a college season in Lexington, winning dozens of games, likely making a deep tournament run, and having unwavering support from your coach is a pretty good deal.
