Florida’s first game against Idaho was canceled because of bad weather and won’t be made up. So the Gators first official contest will be against lowly MAC school Eastern Michigan. Things can only go up for the Gators after finishing 4-8 last season. Eastern Michigan squeaked by Morgan State 31-28 last week despite being outgained 479-391 in yardage. The Eagles finished 2-10 in the 2013.

Prediction: The pressure is on Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel to have a big year. The junior missed most of last season after suffering an ankle injury. Will Muschamp needs his offense to be better if he wants to keep his job. Luckily, Muschamp always puts out a strong defensive unit. This season’s group is headlined by cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III, who is only a sophomore.
The inclement weather and cancellation of the Idaho game will hurt the Gators going forward – especially if the team needs one extra win to become bowl eligible. They start conference play next week against Kentucky and then have back-to-back road games at Alabama and Tennessee. LSU, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida State also feature on the Gators schedule. But for this week, there isn’t much to worry about it.
We’ll take a hungry Florida squad to cover the spread against an overmatched Eastern Michigan team.
