Hold off on penciling in Chip Kelly at Florida.
The former Oregon and NFL head coach has been linked to the opening in Gainesville in recent days, and some are thinking he is likely headed to coach the Gators.
Apparently, a poster on the Florida Rivals site not only said Kelly to UF was “basically a done deal,” he added that a former Florida AD is still involved and is pushing for the school to hire ex-Gators assistant and current USF head coach Charlie Strong.
We might assume the ex-AD in the post is Jeremy Foley, but Florida’s current athletic director Scott Stricklin emphatically shut down the notion that he is on the verge of hiring Kelly.
Check out his response on Twitter.

There is a lot of bad (i.e. incorrect) info out there, but this is a whole other level of bad info.

We’ll see if Stricklin’s denial means Kelly isn’t coming to Florida period.
Things can always change in coaching searches.
