He is officially back in Gainesville.
Florida has hired Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen to fill their coaching vacancy.
The program announced the news minutes ago,
Mullen finished his nine-year tenure at Mississippi State with an overall record of 69-46. Prior to his stint in Starksville, he was the offensive coordinator at Florida from 2005-08, helping the Gators win two national titles.
Welcome home, @CoachDanMullen.

On paper, this appears to be a strong hire. Mullen has an offensive background, and the Gators need an offensive makeover in the worst way. He’s been in Gainesville before, and he was successful in the uber-competitive SEC West.
With the Gators nabbing Mullen, all eyes shift to Tennessee and Texas A&M for the next round of SEC coaching hires. Of course, Mississippi State must also find Mullen’s replacement.
