Florida introduced Scott Stricklin as the new Athletic Director on Tuesday.
The Gators showcased their newest purchase, Scott Stricklin, in a press conference Tuesday. Stricklin replaces Jeremy Foley, who was set to retire on October 1. Stricklin has several ties to Mississippi State, so it wasn’t easy to pry him away. He commented on how challenging the decision was for him to move on from his alma mater.
“This was a very challenging decision for me to make the decision to leave a place that is my alma mater; it’s very important to me, where I had built a lot of relationships, had a lot of family connections.”

Stricklin is a graduate of Mississippi State and began his career with the Bulldogs in 1990 as a member of the media relations department. He worked his way up through the Mississippi State program to become the Athletic Director in 2010. Stricklin was named a 2015-2016 Under Armour Athletics Director of the Year winner.
