Todd Gurley is the best running back in college football, according to most analysts and scouts. The Georgia running back started his junior season–likely his final in Athens, Ga.–with an incredibly impressive performance, rushing for nearly 200 yards and three touchdowns.
The Bulldogs’ star, a sure-fire first round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, is beginning to draw comparisons to former and current NFL stars.
Thursday morning, former NFL quarterback and Hall of Famer Fran Tarkenton compared Gurley to potentially the greatest running back in league history.

Appearing on “The Rude Awakening” show on 680 the Fan, Tarkenton spoke of Gurley’s potential to host Chris Dimino.
“I’ve never seen a running back dominate like he did,” Tarkenton said. “I played against a guy named Jim Brown, the greatest running back that ever lived. There is no doubt about it. Todd Gurley can be as good as Jim Brown.”
At the time of his retirement in 1965, Brown held nearly every NFL rushing record. In the minds of most, he’s one of the greatest players in league history.
Gurley has some very high expectations to live up to. Based on his start to the 2014 season, it looks like he will.
