John Calipari is the coach of the Kentucky men’s basketball team, and based on his seven-year deal worth nearly $7 million a season, he’ll likely be the coach in Lexington for a while.
According to a report, though, he could have been the coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Calipari reportedly turned down a $80 million offer from the Cavaliers.
With LeBron James announcing today that he is returning to Cleveland, many in the Twitterverse feel Calipari made the wrong decision to stay at Kentucky.
How about all those college coaches who turned down Cavs job (Izzo, Donovan, Hoiberg, Calipari, Self) now? Wonder what they are thinking.

If you truly think Calipari or almost any other college coach would have turned down chance to coach this Cavs team, I can’t help you

I wonder if Calipari is regretting turning down the Cavs now. #BBN

Yo,Coach Calipari, what about that 10-year $80 million contract offer from the Cavs you turned down?

Guess John Calipari is really regretting that whole not-accepting-Cavs-$80-million-offer thing right now.

Probably now, yes, but too risky. RT @JoshSlagter Do Izzo/Calipari/etc. have any regrets about not taking the Cavs job this time around?

Add John Calipari to the list of people that wish they didn’t turn the Cavs down.

Biggest loser in this other than Wade? John Calipari. Could’ve been the Cavs coach.

Calipari had an 80 Mil deal to coach CAVS, HAHAHAHAH HE WOULDVE HAD KYRIE AND LEBRON WOWWWWWW
— Jordan Kerr (@Kerburnthusiazm) July 11, 2014
LeBron James will return to the Cavs. Somewhere, John Calipari is banging his head in regret for signing that UK extension.

Maybe Calipari is regretting his decision to turn down the Cavaliers offer. But one thing is for sure: he’s happy in Lexington. He’s making $7 million a season at one of the country’s top college basketball programs.
