Shortly before Kentucky took on Connecticut in the national championship at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas Monday night, a rumor surfaced about John Calipari leaving Lexington for the NBA to coach the Los Angeles Lakers.
Kentucky fell to the Huskies in the title game, 60-54, and following the contest, Calipari told ESPN’s Jeannine Edwards that the rumor is not true.

Now, if Calipari were to leave Kentucky for another job, he likely wouldn’t admit to it the night his current team lost in the national championship. But Calipari’s word is all we have–and all that matters–at the moment. So right now, expect Calipari to be on the sideline for Kentucky next season.
