Kentucky coach John Calipari, who was ejected during Saturday night’s loss to SEC bottom-feeder South Carolina, is taking full responsibility for his team’s slide the past few weeks. The Wildcats have dropped three of their past five contests – they also barely held off LSU in overtime back on February 22nd. On Monday’s SEC teleconference, Cal tried to transfer the blame off of his young players.
John Calipari on the SEC teleconference: “At the end of the day, whatever’s going on with this team comes back to me.”

Calipari says he is still trying to figure out how to coach his team. “It’s on me.” Says “you don’t put this on 18-year-old kids.”

Calipari is famous for his “tough love” approach with his players, so this is an interesting development. While we wouldn’t quite put this on the Mike Gundy “I’m a man, I’m 40” level, it’s nice to see Cal trying to deflect the criticism of his players. The Wildcats still have a few weeks to get things right – we’ll see if they can pull it off.
