Story: Kentucky fell to Georgia tonight with an NCAA tournament bid on the line.
After coming off a tough loss to Arkansas, UK needed to come out strong and physical against the Bulldogs – but things went downhill fast.
The beginning of the first half was a back-and-forth match-up between the Dawgs and the Cats with both teams shooting poorly – UK shot 38% while UGA shot 43.5%. Georgia closed out the first half with Caldwell-Pope swishing a three-pointer at the buzzer to put the Bulldogs up by five.
The second half turned into a nightmare for Big Blue. After Kentucky scratched back to cut UGA’s lead to three with seven minutes remaining, the Wildcats choked when it mattered most. After battling back to make it a one possession game, UK gave up a 10-0 run down the stretch. The Cats missed seven straight shots while the Bulldogs couldn’t miss. Kentucky would never recover.
This loss was a tough one to watch especially considering it is now week 18 of college basketball. UK desperately needed this win to at least stay on the bubble but came up short. Now, the question is – is there even enough time for the Wildcats to prove themselves?
Big Blue takes on Florida on Saturday, which would be a quality win (if they can get it done). But with the way the Cats have been playing, is beating Florida a reachable goal? Looks like we’ll have to wait and see.
Calipari says he’s “so disappointed in job I’ve done this year,” moments after players said they’ve allowed Cal to cover for them all year.

Goodwin: “If I was Cal, I wouldn’t take none of the blame. He’s a great guy for doing that.” Said he’s covered for him, Poythress, others.

I cannot believe that Georgia beat Kentucky in basketball…. Woah. Like nowhere near going to the top of my bracket this year.

Sean Woods: There’s just a certain way and a certain look Kentucky basketball players should have, and not have such a sense of entitlement.
