Story: Kentucky rallies past Dayton to move on to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
In the first half, the Wildcats and the Flyers were in a tight back-and-forth match-up until UK took off with a 14-0 run. The Cats took a nine point lead to close out the half.
The fast pace set by Kentucky would continue throughout the second half. The Flyers cut the lead to four points mid-way through the second half but the single point deficit wouldn’t last long – UK expanded its lead to double digits shortly after. Kentucky’s “40 Minutes of Dread” helped force 34 turnovers against Dayton.
The key for Kentucky’s success against the Flyers can be focused in on one player; A’dia Mathies, who is a key offensive factor for the Cats. In today’s match-up, Mathies hit 13-of-17 shots, helping her surpass her previous career-high in points – her new career-high is set at 34.
Despite Mathies’ incredible offensive performance, A’dia and a couple of her fellow teammates have been battling a case of the stomach bug.
Are the UK women the toughest girls ever? They are sick as could be and playing like its no big deal.
