Kentucky football’s Ashely Lowery was in a serious car accident back in May — he was ejected from his vehicle and landed 100 feet from where he initially crashed. Today, we’ve learned that there is more to the story.
According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, after his wreck, Lowery was cited for driving under the influence. His blood alcohol levels were reportedly at 0.139 two hours after the crash — the legal limit is 0.08. But that’s not all – Lowery was also cited for not wearing his seat belt, failure to maintain lane and a license violation.
As of now, Lowery is still with the team, but UK football head coach Mark Stoops has already booted five players for violations of team rules — including two this morning.
The Thomas brothers are the ninth and tenth UK players out since Mark Stoops’ arrival. Five dismissed for violations, five transferring.
