Fresh off a victory in the Elite Eight against Michigan, John Calipari gave an emotional post-game speech to his young Kentucky squad. The victory over the Wolverines puts Kentucky in the Final Four for the third time in Calipari’s five-year tenure at the school.
Calipari specifically praised the play of rarely-used freshman Marcus Lee, who scored 10 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and blocked two shots. Lee played due to sophomore center Willie Cauley-Stein being out with an ankle injury.
“What happened today, the greatest news is we called it. I told you it was going to happen, and everyone around the world is talking about you right now,” Calipari said.
Kentucky will take on Wisconsin in the second Final Four game Saturday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Florida and UConn are set to tip-off in the first game at 6:09 p.m. E.T. Both games will be broadcast by TBS.
