The last few games of the NCAA Tournaments have left something to be desired on the offensive end, but Wichita State vs. Kentucky is living up to the hype so far. Late in the second half, the Shockers’ excellent point guard Fred VanVleet picked the pocket of Kentucky’s Aaron Harrison and dished it to Cleanthony Early, who threw down a huge slam on Willie Cauley-Stein.
Here’s a Vine of the play from Gifdsports:
Early was fouled and knocked down his and-one opportunity. Kentucky quickly responded with a James Young three, and sent the game to halftime with Wichita State leading 37-31.
No matter who wins this one, the Sweet 16 match-up will be a good one. Wichita State can clinch a Final Four rematch with Louisville, while Kentucky-Louisville is one of the sports’ best rivalries.
This second half should be a lot of fun.
