The pay-to-play debate in collegiate athletics hasn’t had too much of a presence at this week’s SEC Media Days.
LSU running back Terrence Magee was asked about it this afternoon, though, and he has an opinion on the subject that likely differs quite a bit from many of his teammates and fellow college football players.
LSU RB Terrance Magee: “The opportunity to play football at a great school like LSU and get a free education is enough pay for me.”

Magee likely has a future in the NFL, where he could make millions of dollars, but it’s surprising that a college athlete would say he’s OK with not getting supplementary income while in college. The majority of college football players likely feel differently, and they probably deserve to, but it’s refreshing to get an opposing take from a current athlete.
