LSU’s Tiger Stadium is currently under construction. The Bayou’s flagship football program’s playing arena is being upgraded, with its capacity increasing from 92,452 to 100,000 due to a $75 million expansion of the south end zone.
The construction process is nearing completion. Check out photos of the process below:
The sight lines in some of these new seats won’t be great, at least for visiting fans. LSU athletic director Joe Alleva recently said that Alabama fans will “need telescopes to see the field.”
The SEC requires schools to allot 7,000 tickets for visiting fans. LSU, based on Alleva’s comments, will likely be putting most of those fans in the nose-bleed sections of its renovated stadium.
With its expansion, Tiger Stadium becomes the third-largest stadium in the SEC, trailing only Tennessee (102,455) and Alabama (101,821). Texas A&M’s Kyle Field will increase its capacity to more than 102,000 following the 2015 season.
