Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze wasn’t in a great mood during his session at SEC Media Days.
After news surfaced yesterday that former Ole Miss player Houston Nutt was suing the university for defamation, you knew it it wasn’t going to be an easy press conference for head coach Hugh Freeze. “I keep waiting for the Media Day where I come here and we can just talk about our players,” he said outside the main ballroom. “For whatever reason, the journey we’ve been on—obviously, some our fault—has continued for a long time. This’ll be my sixth Media Day, if my memory’s right. Be the fifth time we’re talking about something other than our team.”

SB Nation did a great job of detailing Freeze’s past experiences on Media Day, and he’s definitely been asked some tough questions in the past, but nothing that hasn’t been warranted. The Houston Nutt case and the NCAA scandal facing the school are both relevant, and while they might be uncomfortable to talk about, I doubt it’s the last time he’ll be asked to speak about them.
