Missouri’s James Franklin led wide receiver Marcus Lucas across the middle, and he promptly got destroyed by the Georgia defense. At first, it appeared that the play might be flagged for targeting:
As the announcers noted on replay, it appeared that the back judge was actually going to throw the flag, but couldn’t get it out of his pocket, so he changed his mind:
That’s a tough break for Tigers fans — It would be interesting to get an explanation from the referee on why he held up.
