Texas A&M begins its 2014 season in roughly six weeks. The Aggies open at South Carolina on Thursday, Aug. 28.
Who will start at quarterback in that contest for Texas A&M?
Kevin Sumlin doesn’t know, so stop asking him about it.
“I didn’t come here to tell you who the QB is gonna be. That situation will play itself out.” – Kevin Sumlin

Kevin Sumlin: “I didn’t come here today to tell you who the quarterback is going to be. So we can eliminate those questions.”

Sumlin: A&M will likely name a starting quarterback a couple of weeks before the opener against South Carolina.

The contenders to start at quarterback for Texas A&M:
- Kyle Allen, true freshman, No. 1 pro-style QB in 2014 class
- Kenny Hill, sophomore, passed for 183 yards and one touchdown in 2013, dual-threat
Sumlin is likely leaning one way–it’d be surprising if he wasn’t this close to the season–but by keeping his opinion to himself and his staff, he’s keeping South Carolina’s coaches in the dark, and forcing the Gamecocks’ defense to prepare for two very different quarterbacks.
