According to multiple reports, South Carolina’s Mike Davis is questionable for the Gamecocks’ season opening game against Texas A&M Aug. 28. The starting running back is suffering from a rib injury and hasn’t practiced all week.
“Mike Davis has been hurt, he hasn’t practiced all week,” South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier said on SportsTalk radio. “I don’t know if he’d even be able to start or not. But we got Brandon Wilds, he’s ready to go. Shon Carson, Dave Williams, so we’re in good shape there.”
Davis, though, apparently plans on playing.
Y’all really think I’m going to miss the first game ? ok

While that’s not an official confirmation, it sure looks like Davis will be suiting up and playing when South Carolina hosts Texas A&M next Thursday.
That’s, of course, good news for Gamecocks fans. Davis rushed for 1,183 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2013.
