The SEC Network will be available to more than 90 million people nationwide. This means that ESPN’s new channel, which debuts Aug. 14, will be making a lot of money. The network is projected to be the fifth-most lucrative sports channel in the country and each SEC team will make more TV money than Texas and Notre Dame.
None of that cash will go directly into players’ pockets, though.
Steve Spurrier made sure his South Carolina athletes are aware of that.
Spurrier joke w/ team, on SEC Net in 90+million homes: “I said ‘you know what that means, don’t you fellas? More money, but not for you.'”

While Spurrier was reportedly joking while making that statement, it’s likely not a laughing matter for his players.
South Carolina opens the 2014 season Aug. 28 against Texas A&M.
