Roughly a week after Mike Davis laughed at those doubting if he would be ready to play by Week 1, South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier confirmed that his starting running back will be good to go Thursday night against Texas A&M.
Davis, who rushed for 1,183 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2013, was suffering from a rib injury, which forced him to miss some practices.
On today’s SEC coaches teleconference, though, Spurrier said Davis has recovered from the setback and will play tomorrow night.

South Carolina will likely heavily rely on Davis during its season opener, though the Gamecocks are deep at the position. Texas A&M allowed 185 rushing yards a game last season.
The Gamecocks and Aggies are set to kickoff at 6 p.m. E.T. Thursday. The game will be broadcast by the SEC Network.
