It’s been a rough few years for Tennessee football, but if there’s one thing that the team still has despite a bit of a dry spell, it’s that it is one of the most respected and decorated programs in college football history. One honor that hasn’t been bestowed onto UT, however, is the title of “Wide Receiver U,” until earlier today, when Volunteers head coach Butch Jones called Tennessee “the original Wide Receiver U” at SEC Media Days.
Butch Jones: “Tennessee is the original wide receiver U” #SECMD14

There have been some really good WRs on Rocky Top, like Peerless Price, Donté Stallworth, and Cordarrelle Patterson, but this honor may be a bit of a stretch. At the very least, we’re willing to bet that a few other schools, like USC, disagree with Jones’ assertion.
