Based on the many, many reports, rumors, and Grumors flying around in recent weeks, Tennessee is certainly shooting its shot with this coaching search.
The most popular named attacked to the Vols job, of course, is Jon Gruden.
While it has been a popular option at the sportsbooks, recent reports indicate that the Super Bowl-winning coach doesn’t have interest in taking the job at the school that he has many ties to.
That’s not the only huge name that is being floated by the Vols, though. According to SEC Country’s Mike Griffith, the team is also looking at Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher.

Now, we have no idea if Fisher is making eyes back in the direction of Knoxville, but this isn’t the only SEC team that appears to be making a run at one of the few active coaches to win a national championship. Texas A&M, which still has Kevin Sumlin employed, is reportedly interested as well.
Fisher, like Gruden, is probably a long shot, but the program probably likes the idea of reassuring fans that it will spare no expense to go get a coach that can lead the Vols back to a championship.
