Albarado is considered one of the most accomplished riders of all time, racking up 5,222 victories during his illustrious career. As if winning the 2007 Preakness States riding Curlin wasn’t sweet enough, he won the second leg of the Triple Crown in 2020 while riding Swiss Skydiver.

Churchill Downs confirmed this Tuesday that Albarado passed away. His death comes just days after he underwent a procedure to address a blockage near his heart.

“Saying goodbye to someone who left us too soon is extremely difficult,” Churchhill Downs Racetrack president Mike Anderson said. “The Churchill Downs family is saddened by this devastating loss and we extend our deepest condolences to his family and numerous friends.”

Prayers pouring in for

As soon as the news of Albarado’s death was confirmed, countless fans and media members paid tribute online.

“Prayers for his family. I have watched Robby race many times at Keeneland over the years,” one person said.

“Gone too soon and one heck of a person! May his memories be a blessing,” a second person wrote on X.

“When I worked for the Race Track Chaplaincy of America, he was one of the kindest supporters we had,” another person commented.

Butturff, an eight-time PBA Tour champion, had an incredible run that made him one of the most entertaining bowlers in the sport. Not only did he win the 2019 USBC Masters, he racked up 27 PBA Regional Tour titles.

While the cause of death for Butturff hasn’t been announced, the PBA released a statement on this tragic news.

“Jakob was one of the most unique players in PBA history. Fans marveled at his delivery, as he rode a wave of strikes into becoming a top player in the sport, capable of winning at any time, in any event,” PBA Commissioner Tom Clark said. “Jakob was kind, he was respectful, and he was a champion. He will never be forgotten. Our hearts are with all Butters touched on his one-of-a-kind journey.”

Bowling community is devastated over this loss.

Countless pro bowlers and fans are still in disbelief over Butturff’s death.

“The PBA has lost one of its kindest,” legendary bowler Jason Belmonte said.

“Butters, I don’t even have the words right now, but just know you will be missed, loved, and always remembered,” AJ Johnson wrote on social media. “You had one of the biggest hearts and made everyone laugh! I love you Butters, now go give your mom the biggest hug you always gave us!”

“It ain’t supposed to be like this,” EJ Tackett added. “It’s nothing short of soul crushing. Butters was one of the guys that would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need and he showed that time and time again. The bowling world lost today and it will never be the same. We all love you buddy. Until we meet again my friend.”

The San Francisco 49ers exchanged wide receivers on Tuesday.

San Francisco signed Equanimeous St. Brown, clearing room on the roster by releasing Andy Isabella.

St. Brown has caught 63 of 110 targets for 928 yards and two touchdowns in 62 career NFL games. The 2018 sixth-round pick played three seasons with the Green Bay Packers before joining the Chicago Bears in 2022.

The older brother of Detroit Lions star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown tallied a career-high 377 scrimmage yards for the Chicago Bears in 2023. He scored his lone touchdown in a Week 1 win over San Francisco and a season-high 85 receiving yards against Green Bay.

St. Brown caught just five passes the following year, and he didn’t garner a single target in two games with the New Orleans Saints last season. The 49ers signed him on July 22 but released him last Thursday.

The 28-year-old quickly re-joined the team at Isabella’s expense. 

Isabella garnered a second-round pick in 2019, but he hasn’t tallied an NFL reception since Week 3 of the 2022 season. The speedy 5-foot-9 receiver registered 422 of his 457 career yards in his first two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.

Isabella ended the 2022 campaign with the Baltimore Ravens, who released him the following summer. He spent most of 2023 on the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad, taking special-teams snaps in two games, and had a brief stint on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad last year.

The 49ers signed Isabella when they released St. Brown last week. They reversed that transaction after some training camp activity.

San Francisco needs new wide receivers to step up after trading Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders. The position is banged up this summer.

Brandon Aiyuk is recovering from a season-ending knee injury. Ricky Pearsall missed the start of camp with a hamstring issue, and Jauan Jennings left Sunday’s practice with a calf injury. Those pass-catchers will also play an essential role in helping the newly extended Brock Purdy lead a bounce-back campaign in the Bay Area.

The 49ers play their first preseason game this Saturday night against the Denver Broncos and open the regular season against the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 7.

The Los Angeles Rams locked down a key player before the preseason.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Rams signed Kyren Williams to a three-year, $33 million extension. The running back will receive $23 million guaranteed, narrowly below Derrick Henry and Christian McCaffrey ($24 million each) for the sixth-most at his position.

The value of running backs remains a contentious debate among NFL observers, so some fans felt the Rams spent too much on Williams.

“Gross now and will be even grosser in like 1.5 years,” a fan predicted.

“Volume back. Washed. Overpaid,” a fan claimed.

“Not worth it. Why pay him that amount?” a fan asked.

“Hope he doesn’t fumble the pen when signing,” a fan quipped.

“What an insane overpay,” another fan declared.

Williams seized control of the Rams backfield by amassing 1,350 scrimmage yards and 15 touchdowns in 2023. The former fifth-round pick followed the Pro Bowl campaign by registering 1,481 yards and 16 touchdowns on 350 touches last season.

His efficiency diminished in a heavier workload, falling from 5.0 to 4.1 yards per carry. Williams also fumbled five times, but he earned 85 first downs on his 316 carries and averaged 1.9 yards per contact after rush.

Only Henry and Saquon Barkley have more rushing yards than Williams (2,443) over the last two seasons. He certainly justified a raise over last season’s $985,000 base salary, but critics remain uneasy about investing heavily in running backs.

Rams fans may especially be sensitive about the position’s short shelf life. 

Los Angeles made Todd Gurley the highest-paid running back ever by signing him to a four-year, $60 million extension before the 2018 season. He scored 21 touchdowns that year, but the Rams released the two-time All-Pro after he averaged just 3.8 yards per carry in 2019.

Williams is nevertheless an essential part of the team’s 2025 plans. ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted that he accounted for a higher rate of his team’s touches (43%) than any other player last season, so Williams is poised to start his extension as a rare backfield workhorse.

President Donald Trump is leaning on a few current and former NFL stars to shape the next generation of athletes. 

On Thursday afternoon, Trump held a ceremony where he signed an executive order to bring back the Presidential Fitness Test. It was around for decades before the Obama administration tweaked it. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump wanted to restore the traditional Presidential Fitness Test because he “wants to ensure America’s future generations are strong, healthy, and successful.” 

During this Thursday’s ceremony, Trump celebrated the return of this fitness test. He told reporters, “It was a wonderful tradition, and we’re bringing it back.”

In addition to reviving the Presidential Fitness Test this week, Trump unveiled the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. There are a plethora of marquee names backing this mission.  

Here are the five active NFL players who’ll be on Trump’s new council:

• Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker
• Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa

It’s not a surprise to see Barkley on the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. After all, he played a round of golf with Trump earlier this year.

“Some people are really upset cause I played golf[] and flew to the White House with the PRESIDENT,” Barkley wrote on social media. “Maybe I just respect the office, not a hard concept to understand. Just golfed with Obama not too long ago…and look forward to finishing my round with Trump! Now ya get out my mentions with all this politics and have [an] amazing day.”

Bosa’s name being on this list shouldn’t shock people either. He endorsed Trump leading up to the 2024 election, flexing a Make America Great Again hat on “Sunday Night Football.”

The President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition will also feature Bryson DeChambeau, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Jack Nicklaus and Mariano Rivera among others.

Happy Gilmore 2 has unsurprisingly given Netflix a major viewership victory.

The sequel to Adam Sandler’s beloved 1996 golf comedy began streaming on Friday. Fans old and new have flocked to watch the movie.

According to Variety’s Joe Otterson and Rebecca Rubin, Happy Gilmore 2 drew 46.7 million views over the first three days. It’s the biggest opening weekend for any Netflix movie, a list that includes several other original Sandler films.

Furthermore, the original Happy Gilmore soared to No. 3 on the streamer’s global top-10 list with 11.4 million views.

Without revealing any spoilers, the sequel instantly starts on a dark note to explain the titular character’s abandonment of, and eventual return to, golf. 

While no longer interested in oversized novelty checks, Gilmore once again needs money for his family. This time, he wants to send his daughter (played by Sandler’s real-life daughter Sunny Sandler) to ballet school.

The movie certainly won’t command any Oscar buzz, but it taps into nostalgia by bringing back Ben Stiller, Christopher McDonald (Shooter McGavin), and other cast members from the original.

Happy Gilmore 2 also attracted a younger audience with Bad Bunny and Travis Kelce leading a long list of celebrity roles. An endorsement from Taylor Swift probably didn’t hurt the Netflix viewership numbers either.

“Man this life is crazy!! Still so surreal I got this opportunity,” Kelce wrote on Instagram. “SANDMAN!! Thank you brotha, for the opportunity and for giving us all Happy Gilmore 2! Everybody go check it out right now!”

Numerous golf stars also joined the fun, with Scottie Scheffler arguably stealing the show as the film’s unlikeliest of MVPs. Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Daly, and even Jack Nicklaus made cameos alongside Stephen A. Smith, Becky Lynch, and Guy Fieri. 

Netflix’s best movie premiere ever actually isn’t the streamer’s top event featuring Kelce. The NFL’s Christmas doubleheader, led by the Kansas City Chiefs, garnered nearly 65 million viewers in the United States.

But beyond special live events, Happy Gilmore 2 could stand out as Netflix’s hole-in-one.

Speculation of Max Verstappen leaving Red Bull will go back on hold for another year.

Chatter has persisted about the four-time Formula One champion leaving Red Bull amid interest from Mercedes. Although Verstappen is under contract through 2028, ESPN’s Nate Saunders reported Monday that he could have left after the 2025 season if he placed fourth or lower in the season standings after this Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix. The 27-year-old is third ahead of Mercedes driver George Russell.

Verstappen can’t fall to fourth this weekend, so he’s seemingly staying put in 2026. Red Bull adviser Helmut Marko confirmed as much in an interview with Sport.De, telling the German outlet that Verstappen will return to the team next season.

Talk of Verstappen leaving has persisted since last summer, as Mercedes principal and CEO Toto Wolff has made no secret of his interest in poaching F1’s top star. 

“I don’t think that’s how Formula One works – where then suddenly you can say, ‘Well, bye guys.’ It’s not how it works,” Verstappen told reporters last July when asked about his 2025 plans. “I have a long contract with the team. I’m very happy where I’m at.”

Last month, Russell indicated that Mercedes has stalled his extension talks because of the team’s pursuit of Verstappen. The 27-year-old’s contract ends after this season, and Russell is now unable to surpass Verstappen for third place and give Mercedes a chance to replace him.

Former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner told Sky Sports weeks ago that he thinks Verstappen is tired of all the rumors of an exit. However, the team has since replaced him with Laurent Mekies.

“It’s a lot of noise,” Horner said. “I think Max gets quite annoyed by it. We’re very clear with the contract that we have with Max until 2028. Anything is entirely speculative that is being said. We tend not to pay too much attention to it.”

Meanwhile, Verstappen’s chances of securing a fifth straight F1 title are dwindling. He trails McLaren drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris by 81 and 65 points in the standings, respectively, past the season’s midway mark.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. isn’t the only one impressed by Connor Zilisch.

Zilisch produced JR Motorsports’ 100th victory when winning Saturday’s Pennzoil 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The 19-year-old leads the Xfinity Series standings following his third straight triumph and fifth this season.

After the win, Earnhardt Jr. set a lofty bar for his young driver.

“He has the potential to do incredible, incredible Hall of Fame worthy things,” Earnhardt said.

The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi referenced Earnhardt’s comments when calling Zilisch “legit” and “the real deal” on The Teardown podcast.

“He is the young guy who is coming in and showing it, and it’s the maturity and the poise …. He’s really smart,” Bianchi said. “He’s really patient. He’s about putting himself in a position to be there at the end and then makes the moves and capitalizes. That, to me, is a guy whose race craft supersedes his age. He’s not racing like a 19-year-old.”

Bianchi’s co-host, Jeff Gluck, is also dazzled by Zilisch’s poise so early in his career.

“He’s just so mature,” Gluck said. “It’s crazy. When you listen to him talk and his mental approach … he must have had great parenting growing up.”

Gluck theorized that Zilisch may be NASCAR’s best prospect since the likes of Kyle Larson, Joey Logano, and Kyle Busch. Bianchi added Chase Elliott and William Byron to the conversation.

Bianchi said it’d be “silly” not to move Zilisch to the Cup Series next year. He predicted the rising young star would endure some growing pains against NASCAR’s top stars in 2026, but Zilisch remains “the next in line.”

“I don’t know if next year he’ll be super competitive on ovals,” Bianchi said. “I think he’ll be OK and have some top 10s, but I think he’s good enough to win on a road course. It’s going to be a little bit of an adjustment period for him, but he’s legit. He’s not going anywhere.”

Bianchi asked Zillisch about Earnhardt’s comments in his post-race press conference. He called the Hall of Famer’s praise “really special.”

“Those words carry a lot of meaning, and I still have a long way to go before I get to that point,” Zillisch said. “And a lot of work ahead of me and a lot of bad days ahead of me. It’s gonna b an incredible journey.”

Denny Hamlin addressed NASCAR’s major plans for the 2026 Cup Series calendar.

NASCAR announced last week that it’ll run a first-ever street race at San Diego’s Naval Base Coronado next year. The event replaces the Chicago Street Race, which NASCAR has held each of the last three years. NASCAR labeled the move from Chicago as a “pause” with the potential to return as soon as 2027.

On his Actions Detrimental podcast, Hamlin looked forward to the new venue despite lamenting the Chicago split. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver also celebrated a “really good” promotion to introduce the San Diego race.

“I’m excited to go to San Diego,” Hamlin said. “Certainly, if we were going to stay on the streets somewhere, I’ve advocated that I’d like Chicago. I think we should stay at Chicago. They’re going to work out whatever deal they’ve got with the city there. Maybe, hopefully. I wouldn’t count on it. I think it was more of a soft breakup than anything.”

Hamlin called San Diego “a good alternative” to Chicago, particularly from a business perspective.

“We’re back in Southern California again,” he said. “That should be good for our sponsors.” 

The race itself is more of a mystery to Hamlin, who doesn’t know what to expect from a “really long” track running close to three miles.

“I’m going to stay positive about it because it looks like it’s going to be very cool,” Hamlin said. “And certainly, the city is one that is a great place to go.”

NASCAR will hold a three-day event, the first ever at an active military base, from June 19-21. It marks the sport’s return to Southern California, which hosted the Clash at the LA Coliseum from 2022 to 2024.

NASCAR executive vice president Ben Kennedy expressed optimism that the San Diego race would represent “the best sporting event of the year.”

“I think it emphasizes the fact that not only we can race literally anywhere in the world, but that we have some of the best and most versatile drivers in all of motorsports as well,” Kennedy said in NASCAR’s announcement. “It’s the most diverse schedule that we have in our sport, and I would argue the most diverse schedule across all of motorsports when you consider the different amounts of track types that we race at.”

Denny Hamlin vicariously tasted another victory through Bubba Wallace on Sunday.

Wallace captured his first NASCAR Cup Series triumph since 2022 when he became the first Black driver to win a major race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The 23XI Racing driver beat out team owner Hamlin, who finished third a week after winning at Dover.

Hamlin’s Joe Gibbs Racing crew fell short of his series-leading fifth win of the season, but the 44-year-old celebrated Wallace’s monumental moment. He posted photos with his family and Wallace following a Brickyard 400 that filled Hamlin with mixed emotions.

“Kissing the bricks as an owner is bittersweet. Wish I was doing it with my 11 team,” Hamlin wrote. “They gave me everything I needed this weekend. But I’m happy for Bubba Wallace and 23XI Racing. They deserved it.”

It wasn’t a smooth trip to victory lane for Wallace, who won after an 18-minute rain delay and two overtimes. He fended off runner-up Kyle Larson, who won last year’s Brickyard 400, to snap a 100-race win drought and punch his second career playoff ticket.

The win was a long time coming for Wallace, but the 31-year-old wrote on social media that he felt good energy ahead of Sunday’s race.

“I’m not much of the superstitious type but there were a lot of signs when waking up Sunday morning that led me to manifesting tons of positivity,” Wallace said. “Walked in the drivers meeting and said I’m gonna be the one taking that trophy home. Nothing or nobody was gonna take the vision I had for Sunday away from me.

“To see it all play out and come together… it’s still unbelievable even though I believed it before it all happened. Life is crazy. The support and love is well heard and felt. Appreciate you all!”

Four more races remain in the regular season before Hamlin and Wallace compete for a Cup Series championship. Hamlin may not be as happy about any 23XI Racing drivers shielding him from a long-eluded title.

They’ll go to Iowa Speedway for the Iowa Corn 350 this Sunday. USA Network will air the race, which starts at 3:30 p.m. ET.

Deion Sanders deployed his marketing prowess in an entirely different light.

The Colorado head coach revealed Monday that he had his bladder removed in May after a bladder cancer diagnosis. During his press conference, Sanders discussed his reliance on Depend.

“I depend on Depend, if you know what I mean,” Sanders said. “I truly depend on Depend. I cannot control my bladder.”

A spokesperson confirmed to USA Today’s Brent Schrotenboer that Sanders has an endorsement deal with Depend.

“Depend is proud to help millions of people live more confidently every day with comfort and protection they can trust – this includes Coach,” the company said in a statement. “Wearing Depend isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a badge of resilience. Sanders joked about facing the same challenges as his infant grandson and warned that Colorado may have to install a Porta Potty on the sideline. (Perhaps that’s another forthcoming partnership.)

Although he made light of his circumstances, Sanders’ openness could make a profound difference by raising awareness and removing stigmas. A doctor likened the situation to former First Lady Betty Ford bringing more attention to breast cancer.

“He seems like the ideal person to take something like this on,” Adam Kibel, the urology department chair at Mass General Brigham in Massachusetts, told Schrotenboer. “He’s got a lot of humor. He’s got… cred. People look at him and say, ‘That guy’s a winner.'”

Sanders hoped others enduring the same issues would take solace in his candidness.

“I know there’s a lot of people out there going through what I’m going through what I’m going through and dealing with what I’m dealing with,” Sanders said. “Let’s stop being ashamed of it, and let’s deal with it.”

Two young NFL players have announced their respective retirements before the 2025 regular season.

The 2025 NFL regular season is right around the corner. NFL teams have officially reported for training camp. Preseason games are scheduled to begin within days.

Week 1, which starts with the Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Dallas Cowboys, is a little more than a month away. The Eagles and the Cowboys are scheduled to kick off at 8:20 p.m. E.T. on Thursday, Sept. 4. It should be a good one.

However, ahead of the 2025 NFL regular season, two young NFL players have announced their retirements.

New York Jets running back Zach Evans, 24, announced his retirement from the National Football League on Monday.

Evans played collegiately at Ole Miss. He spent most of the 2024 season with the Los Angeles Rams. Evans signed with the Jets practice squad last year.

He was a sixth round pick out of Ole Miss in 2023.

Evans is not the only NFL player under 30 who is retiring this week.

Nate Herbig, a 27-year-old offensive lineman who has played for the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Commanders.

The veteran offensive lineman, who was an undrafted free agent, started 30 games over the course of his career.

The NFL is a great sport, but it’s a difficult one, too.

Two young NFL players have chosen to move on with their lives weeks before the start of the 2025 season.

A man is dead and two other people have been injured in a shooting at the building that contains the NFL headquarters.

The shooting occurred outside New York City’s famed 345 Park Avenue office building. According to reports, the shooter fired rounds at a civilian and a police officer before fleeing into the building. The suspect reportedly took his life on the building’s 33rd floor.

As of writing, the conditions of the victims are not known.

“Due to police activity, please avoid the vicinity of East 52 Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue. Expect emergency vehicles & delays in the surrounding area,” the NYPD announced at 6:50 E.T.

“UPDATE: At this time, the scene has been contained and the lone shooter is dead,” the wrote at 8:07 p.m. E.T.

NFL insider Josina Anderson reported that the NFL headquarters was given an order to shelter in place during the shooting:

“Happening Now: A league source told me some NFL staffers were recently told to “shelter-in-place,” including some on the 5th floor, with an investigation underway for an active shooter at 345 Park Ave–where NFL headquarters and other businesses are at,” she wrote.

“UPDATE: Per the NYPD Commissioner: “At this time, the scene has been contained and the lone shooter has been neutralized.”

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino took to X a short while ago to state that the FBI is working with the NYPD on the investigation. The NYPD has a lead and the motive of the attack is “currently under investigation.” 

“The FBI is on scene at the Manhattan crime scene. The NYPD currently has the lead in this investigation. Our personnel are there to support their efforts. Motive is currently under investigation,” Bongino wrote.

Congratulations are pouring in for Jalen Hurts on Monday morning.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback is having quite a 2025. Hurts led the Eagles to a Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs in February. The Eagles topped the Chiefs, 40-22, in Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans. Hurts, who starred collegiately at Alabama and Oklahoma, won his first NFL championship. 

Hurts and the Eagles recently received their Super Bowl rings, but the quarterback has already decided to not wear his moving forward. Hurts has moved on to the 2025 season.

“I’ve moved on to the new year,” Hurts said when asked by reporters why he didn’t wear the ring. “It’s as simple as that.”

Hurts made NFL history on Monday, becoming the first player in league history to land an endorsement with Sprite.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback is featured in a new commercial with the soda brand. Sprite has mostly sponsored NBA players in the past, with iconic commercials featuring legendary players like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.

Jalen Hurts has been added to the list.

President Trump has a new nickname.

The President of the United States is currently in his second term. He took office in January. President Trump has been spending a lot of time out on the golf course, which was certainly the case this weekend.

President Trump, 79, played a couple of rounds of golf at his course in Turnberry, Scotland. The course is considered one of the top in the world. Longtime golf star Bryson DeChambeau wants to see it host the British Open soon.

But while President Trump certainly likes to play golf, he’s faced accusations of cheating out on the course, too.

A new three-word nickname for President Trump is now going viral on social media.

“Commander in Cheat.”

Fans are taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to suggest the new nickname.

We’ll have to wait and see if President Trump chooses to respond to the video of him appearing to bend the rules of golf during his round in Scotland over the weekend.

Ohio State and Michigan aren’t scheduled to meet on the football field for another four months. However, the trash talk between the two rival programs has already started.

The Wolverines have defeated the Buckeyes in four straight matchups. While Ohio State won the national championship last season, Ryan Day’s team lost to Michigan for a fourth year in a row. The Buckeyes entered the 2024 game as multi-touchdown favorites, but they were stunned at home by Sherrone Moore’s team.

Michigan has the upper hand in the rivalry right now, that is for sure. And that’s pretty wild to say, considering Ohio State is coming off a national title-winning season.

But anyone associated with the rivalry would admit that it’s true.

The trash talk between Ohio State and Michigan has already started, too.

One Michigan player, speaking at Big Ten Media Days in Las Vegas, said that the Buckeyes’ national championship didn’t really count, because they lost to the Wolverines.

Michigan defensive end Derrick Moore said that Ohio State’s national championship wasn’t “real.”

“First, I’d like to congratulate them on the win,” Moore said during Big Ten media days. “But, you know, it’s not no real win if y’all ain’t beat us.”

He added: “If the playoff expansion wasn’t around, [Ohio State] wouldn’t have won the national championship. So, we pretty much look at it like, y’all had a nice little, easy run. But we helped y’all along the way. We pretty much helped y’all build back up. But after that [loss], they dominated everybody that came in front of them. So, got to give all the credit to them.”

Meanwhile, Ohio State standout Jeremiah Smith is promising to not lose to Michigan again.

“I just hate them. Just something about them. For the next two years, I promise you, I will not lose to them. I can’t lose to them in the next two years,” Smith said before the 2025 season.

Sherrone Moore, meanwhile, is praising Ohio State for their championship.

“They won the national title. They were the best team at the end of the year, so I give them all the credit,” Sherrone Moore said. “They were well deserving. They played really well. They obviously won it all. So kudos to them.”

Ohio State and Michigan are scheduled to play on Saturday, Nov. 29 at the Big House in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The Buckeyes will look to stop the Wolverines’ streak at four.

Fans have announced a “boycott” of ESPN over their story on Hulk Hogan’s death.

Hogan, the iconic wrestling star, died on Thursday. He was 71 years old. The legendary wrestler, perhaps the most important in the history of the sport, had a controversial life.

The legendary wrestler was caught on video using the N-word 18 years ago. He ultimately apologized and was allowed back into the WWE. But to many fans, that was the final straw.

ESPN posted an Andscape article on its homepage with the headline: “Professional wrestling star’s career is no match for his racism.”

ESPN writer David Dennis Jr. wrote that Hogan’s legacy was being a racist.

“When you are a racist that is your legacy above all else,” Dennis says. “Hulk Hogan died being known a racist who also became famous as a professional wrestler.”

Dennis Jr. didn’t hold back.

“Hulk Hogan admitted that he is a racist. He once told his son he was scared Karma would bring them back as Black men. When you are a racist that is your legacy above all else. It’s not complicated. This is what I wrote,” he wrote.

“Posting this while HH’s body was still warm tells us everything we need to know about you,” one fan added.

President Trump, 79, signed an executive order related to college sports on Thursday. The President of the United States believes that he is “saving” college sports.

The “President Donald J. Trump Saves College Sports” executive order was made public on Thursday. It outlines several steps for the college sports world:

• The Order requires the preservation and, where possible, expansion of opportunities for scholarships and collegiate athletic competition in women’s and non-revenue sports.
• The Order prohibits third-party, pay-for-play payments to collegiate athletes. This does not apply to legitimate, fair-market-value compensation that a third party provides to an athlete, such as for a brand endorsement.
• The Order provides that any revenue-sharing permitted between universities and collegiate athletes should be implemented in a manner that protects women’s and non-revenue sports.
• The Order directs the Secretary of Labor and the National Labor Relations Board to clarify the status of student-athletes in order to preserve non-revenue sports and the irreplaceable educational and developmental opportunities that college sports provide.
• The Order directs the Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission to take appropriate actions to protect student-athletes’ rights and safeguard the long-term stability of college athletics from endless, debilitating antitrust and other legal challenges.
• The Order directs the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy and the Director of the White House Office of Public Liaison to consult with the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams and other organizations to protect the role of college athletics in developing world-class American athletes.

Perhaps we’ll see President Trump at a game or two this fall, too.

Another day, another awful heat wave. This one is primed to affect nearly a quarter of the U.S. citizens.

According to ABC News, several states stretching from the Southeast to the Midwest are primed to face dangerously high temperatures upwards of the 90s and 100s. The city of St. Louis, Missouri alone is expected to see temperatures feeling like 114 degrees over the weekend.

“Places in South Carolina and North Carolina are also getting in on the extreme heat this weekend, with an extreme heat warning in effect for places like Myrtle Beach, Wilmington and Raleigh for feels-like temperatures reaching between 113 and 115 degrees over the weekend,” the outlet reported.

“Heat advisories for feels-like temperatures reaching well into the 90s and up to the 100s are in effect for multiple areas. From Florida to Virginia, including Tampa, Savannah and Richmond; from Texas to West Virginia, including Dallas, Oklahoma City, Memphis, Cincinnati and Charleston; and for parts of the Upper Midwest, including Pierre, Bismarck, and Duluth.”

ABC News reported that the buildup of heat and humidity is setting up for a potential “life-threatening heat wave” to take place next week. Several major cities including Memphis, Tampa, Savannah and Jackson are facing temperatures in the 110s next week.

“The major heat and humidity will continue to build up across the Midwest and the Southeast this weekend, setting up a widespread, life-threatening heat wave to take place through much of next week.

“Extreme heat watches have been issued for Omaha, Sioux Falls, Des Moines, Minneapolis and Duluth — as well as other parts of Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota and Minnesota. Feel-like temperatures in these areas will likely reach well into the 90s and into the 100s for spots on Sunday.

The only silver lining is that it appears the Northeast will finally enjoy a little bit of relief. A recent cold front helped produce some rains which lowered temperatures to a more manageable level.

The Dallas Wings fell short to the Golden State Valkyries on Friday night, but Paige Bueckers still managed to make history. 

Bueckers, the No. 1 pick from the 2025 WNBA Draft, has been sensational for the Wings this season, averaging 18.1 points and 5.6 assists per game. She stayed right around those averages on Friday night, finishing with 17 points and six assists. 

With last night’s performance in the books, Bueckers has become the fastest player in WNBA history to reach at least 350 career points and 100 assists. 

Bueckers has already been having a special rookie season. After all, she’s the only player in the league ranked in the top 10 in points, assists and steals. Her latest achievement, however, has WNBA fans buzzing.  

“It’s actually ridiculous that she is doing all of this and one could make a very real argument that she is still being underrated by the media and general public,” one fan said. 

“The makings of a goat,” a second fan wrote. 

“Won’t be long until she becomes the best guard in the league,” a third fan said.

“Generational talent, Rookie of the Year,” a social media user commented. 

“Tried to tell you all along, the best I have ever seen. Just a matter of health and time now,” a fan of Bueckers declared. 

There’s no question Bueckers will win Rookie of the Year as long as she stays healthy. 

WNBA fans will get to see Bueckers back in action Sunday when the Wings host the Las Vegas Aces. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. ET.

Bill Self is undeniably one of the best coaches in college basketball. Unfortunately, health issues have plagued him for the last few years.  

In 2023, Self was unable to coach the Kansas Jayhawks during the NCAA Tournament. That’s because he was dealing with chest tightness and balance concerns. Although it’s unclear if his symptoms are as severe this time around, the two-time national champion is once again sidelined due to his health. 

Kansas announced on Thursday that Self received two stints after experiencing “some concerning symptoms.” An additional update hasn’t been provided at this time.  

“The procedure went very well, and he is expected to make a full recovery,” Kansas said in a statement. “He is in good spirits and expects to be released from the hospital soon.”

Self hasn’t said anything yet about receiving two stents. In the meantime, he has received plenty of prayers from the college basketball community. 

While college basketball fans would love to see Self on the sideline this upcoming season, some are wondering if he should stick around. If his health is genuinely a concern, retirement might be the best thing for him.

“Bill has nothing to prove to anyone as a coach. Time to just retire and live life. He’s one of the best to ever do it,” one fan said. 

“If I were Self, I would retire and enjoy life,” a second fan wrote on X. 

“Not worth it, Coach. Ride off into the sunset and enjoy your family,” another fan suggested. 

“Hoping for a full recovery and a new job with less stress. Would be a great TV analyst,” a social media user added.

During the 2024-25 season, Self was actually asked about retirement. He made it clear at that time that he’s not ready to walk away from the game. 

Will Self’s stance change after being dealt yet another health scare? Only time will tell.

Will Nick Saban come out of retirement and coach again? Football fans have been asking that question an awful lost over the past two weeks.    

Former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy recently said he heard from a “notable source” that Saban could return to the sideline to coach a college football team. Fox Sports radio host Colin Cowherd, however, reported something entirely different about the seven-time national champion.

Cowherd said the Cleveland Browns are hoping to land Saban next offseason and pair him with Texas quarterback Arch Manning. Of course, that’s only possible if Manning declares for the 2026 NFL Draft. 

“Saban is incredibly close to not only Jimmy Haslam, but the Manning family as well,” Cowherd said. “If he could land a top quarterback, like Jim Harbaugh going to the Chargers for Justin Herbert, he would take a phone call for the NFL. There are two teams guaranteed to be awful this year, Cleveland and the Saints. Nick Saban has coached in Cleveland with the Browns under the [Bill] Belichick staff and he coached at LSU.”

During an appearance on “Fox and Friends” this Friday morning, Saban was asked about all the rumors. 

Saban said he considered a return to coaching, but he was really just cracking a joke about his chores around the house. 

“You know, it’s amazing to me that came up in the media, and the media speaks for you and thinks for you. I never really ever had the thought about getting back into coaching until two days ago, Mrs. Terry said I had to run the sweeper in the entire downstairs,” Saban said. “So while I was running the sweeper, the thought occurred to me. When you are a coach, you have a heck of a lot better job than this. So that’s the only time I considered it.” 

Saban added, “I’m really happy with what I am doing right now. It’s exciting to still be involved in the game.”

Technically speaking, Saban didn’t slam the door shut on his future. For now though, fans should expect to see him on “College GameDay” this fall.

The wrestling universe lost an icon on Thursday. Former WWE star Hulk Hogan passed away at the age of 71. 

Hogan was one of the most popular wrestlers of all-time. In fact, he played a pivotal role in making the WWE the powerhouse that it is today. Not only was he a six-time WWE champion, he was the first wrestler to win consecutive Royal Rumble matches. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame individually as well as a member of the New World Order. 

According to reports, Hogan died after suffering cardiac arrest. This was confirmed by the Clearwater Police Department.  

“WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans,” the WWE said.

On Friday morning, Hogan’s wife, Sky Daily, released a statement on his death. As you’d imagine, she’s devastated right now.  

“I wasn’t ready for this…and my heart is in pieces.He had been dealing with some health issues, but I truly believed we would overcome them. I had so much faith in his strength. I thought we still had more time.This loss is sudden and impossible to process. To the world, he was a legend… but to me, he was my Terry. The man I loved. My partner. My heart,” she wrote. 

“Hulk loved his fans so much and despite his growing physical discomfort, he did everything he could to show up, sign autographs, take photos, and connect with the people who supported him through it all. You meant everything to him. He was a believer in Christ, and I take comfort knowing his soul is at peace and he’s been welcomed home. Please keep his family and all of us who loved him in your prayers as we try to navigate this new reality.”

Hogan and Daily were first linked together in February 2022. They got engaged in July 2023 and then tied the knot a few months.  

“I asked Sky to marry me, and she was crazy enough to say yes, brother,” Hogan said in an old video.

For the better part of the spring and early summer, Colorado head coach and NFL legend Deion Sanders was dealing with some pretty serious health issues. But as his team gets ready for his third year in charge, he had a message about his health.

Taking to X on Friday morning, Coach Prime declared that he’s back and that he’s feeling “great.”

It’s welcome news for Colorado fans given some of the brutal health issues Sanders has dealt with in recent years. He’s dealt with blood clots in the recent past which caused him to lose several toes and nearly cost him his entire foot.

The 2025 season might be the biggest test of Sanders’ head coaching career. For the first time since taking over the team he won’t have the services of his son Shedeur Sanders or of all-world two-way player Travis Hunter.

The Buffaloes are now fully a team of players that he has limited experience working with. Some of them have the unenviable task of replacing two of the best players in the country.

One way or another, we’re going to find out just how good of a coach Deion Sanders is this season.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is entering the most important season of his NFL career. With that said, he received some motivation at practice on Thursday. 

Lawrence missed seven games last season due to a concussion and shoulder injury. He finished the year with 2,045 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions. It was a disappointing campaign to say the least, especially after receiving a five-year, $275 million contract extension. 

With Week 1 on the horizon, Lawrence has made it clear that he’s feeling pretty confident about his health as well as his abilities on the gridiron. 

“I’m really excited just to be healthy,” Lawrence said. “It feels good doing a full offseason of therapy and rehab and trying to get back to where I can feel healthy. I’ve gotten to that point, so it feels really good. I’ve had an entire offseason of training and feel like I’m in really great shape. I’m throwing the ball well.” 

There are at least two people who’ll be in Lawrence’s corner regardless of the results this season, his wife Marissa and their daughter Shae Lynn. 

On Thursday, Marissa shared photos of her and Shae visiting Trevor at practice. It seemed like a precious moment for the Lawrence family. 

“Visit dad at work day,” Lawrence’s wife wrote for her caption. “Camp Year 5! So excited for this year and couldn’t be more proud of 16! We love you babe.”

Unsurprisingly, most of Marissa’s followers had kind things to say. 

“Cutest family,” an Instagram user commented.

“Duval’s first family,” a second person said.

“I can’t – these photos are so precious,” another person wrote.

Trevor and Marissa welcomed their first child into the world this past January.  

“Shae Lynn Lawrence. Born 1/4/25 at 4:01 am. 10 pounds 2 oz. Mommy and daddy love you so much!!! Thank you Jesus for our girl,” Marissa wrote on Instagram.

Just a month ago, Trevor and Marissa went on their first summer vacation with their daughter. Of course, they’ll have plenty of time to travel the offseason after the 2025 season wraps up.

The WNBA All-Star Weekend took place in Indianapolis, Indiana, to rave reviews.

While Caitlin Clark was unable to play in the game – or take part in the 3-Point Contest – thousands of fans still flocked to Indianapolis for the special weekend. The 3-Point Contest was won by Sabrina Ionescu, the players wore “Pay Us What You Owe Us” T-shirts before the game and the TV ratings were solid.

However, one of the halftime performers from the WNBA All-Star Game has since been arrested. And she has reportedly been arrested on a felony charge.

It’s troubling.

Rapper GloRilla, who performed at halftime of the WNBA All-Star Game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, was arrested on a felony drug possession charge, according to TMZ.

“When her family members did the right thing and called law enforcement, instead of investigating the violent home invasion and theft at Ms. Woods’ home, they instead sought a search warrant when they spotted what they believed was a small amount of marijuana,” the attorneys said. “Law enforcement then sought arrest warrants for her even though she hadn’t been at her home for some time. No arrest warrants have been issued for the violent home invaders. Ms. Woods is a victim, not a suspect. This is our tax dollars at work, absolutely unbelievable.”

Police, meanwhile, are standing by their decision.

“The homeowner is a victim of a serious crime, and we are committed to bringing the suspects to justice,” Sheriff Ron Freeman said in a statement, according to FOX 5 in Atlanta. “At the same time, we must continue to uphold and enforce the law in all aspects of this case.”

ESPN has made a big decision on the debut of North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick.

The Worldwide Leader in Sports is deciding to go all-out for Belichick’s season opener. North Carolina is scheduled to take on TCU in Week 1. The game is scheduled for Monday night, Sept. 1.

Ahead of kickoff in the Week 1 game, ESPN is deciding to do full coverage of the contest, which will be Belichick’s first as a college football head coach.

ESPN made the announcement for Week 1 of the 2025 season on Thursday, July 24.

NFL teams are unveiling their new uniform combinations for the upcoming season. Many teams are launching new alternate helmets, uniforms and more. The Green Bay Packers launched their new alternate uniform on Thursday morning.

However, it appears that it was prematurely leaked online by Dick’s Sporting Goods. 

On the Dick’s Sporting Goods website on July 23, a Jordan Love jersey appeared. It was navy blue with lettering and sleeve stripes in gold coloring. The jersey said it was out of stock.

The Green Bay Packers have since released the full uniform. It matches what was released on the Dick’s Sporting Goods website earlier in the week.

The Green Bay Packers announced that they were “returning” to their roots with the uniform unveiling. The team has not worn blue uniforms since the 2019 season. 

Unlike past versions of the blue uniform, this one features a more brown-colored helmet, looking like an old-school leather helmet.

Wednesday, July 23 was the first day of training camp for the Green Bay Packers. The new uniform leaked online during the first day of training camp for the Packers.

One day later, the Packers have officially unveiled the new uniform – to good reviews. NFL fans seem to be in favor of the classic helmet style with a solid navy blue jersey with some gold stripes. The Packers are expected to wear the alternate uniform for a couple of games during the 2025 NFL season.

Prayers are pouring in on social media following a “horrible” plane crash on Thursday morning.

Close to 50 people have died following the crash on Thursday morning. It reportedly took place in Russia’s Far East region, more than 4,000 miles outside of Moscow. Tragically, all 48 people on board the plane have reportedly died.

The Associated Press confirmed the tragic news.

The plane’s remains were reportedly found in Tynda, which is a small remote town more than 7,000 kilometers (4,350 miles) east of Moscow. Authorities reportedly struggled to get to the plane’s remains, due to its location.

At least 48 people are dead in a plane crash in Russia on Thursday morning. According to a report from the Associated Press, all 48 crew and passengers on board a plane that crashed in Russia’s Far East have died.

A high school basketball and football player has been identified as the victim in a “horrific” three-car crash this week.

A three-car crash took place in Rochester, New York on Tuesday evening. The crash reportedly happened on State Route 590 near Browncroft Boulevard. 

Tragically, a 17-year-old high school athlete has been identified as the fatal victim.

“Ricardo Carrero Chico, 17, of Rochester, was traveling north on 590 when he lost control of his car, crossing over the median and into the southbound lanes before striking two vehicles, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. He was pronounced dead at the scene,” the report states.

“Three occupants of the other vehicles involved were taken to a local hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries, according to police.”

Rochester City School District released a statement.

“Our thoughts are with everyone who knew and loved him. We are holding his family close in our hearts and offering our full support to the East staff and students who are grieving. As a support to students, counseling and emotional support services are available at the school,” the statement reads. 

“The District is in contact with the family as they navigate this incredibly difficult time. The District will be respecting the family’s privacy by not providing any further statements.”

Simone Biles, 28, is likely done as a member of the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team, at least when it comes to appearing at the Summer Olympics.

The Columbus, Ohio native won gold at the Summer Olympics in Paris. She’s won 11 Olympic medals and 30 World Championship medals in total. Biles isn’t likely to return for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California.

“I’m really trying to enjoy life, to spend time with my husband [Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens], go support him at his games, live my life as a woman,” Biles told the French sports outlet L’Equipe earlier this year. “I’ve accomplished so much in my sport. For me to come back, it would really have to excite me.”

Biles has admitted that her body is “aging.”

“Whether on the apparatus or in the stands, I still don’t know that,” she told L’Equipe. “But 2028 seems so far away, and my body is aging. I felt it in Paris.”

You wouldn’t know that based on her swimsuit figure, though.

While Biles might be aging in gymnastics terms she still looks stunning in a swimsuit.

The wife of NFL player Jonathan Owens turned heads in a white tank top with a blue bikini bottom.

Biles, who won three gold medals and a silver at the Paris Olympics, admitted that her body “cracked” following the Summer Games.

“I went back to the village, I took the elevator and my body literally collapsed. I was sick for 10 days,” she said. “The other day, we were sprinting in the garden with friends, I had aches and pains for three days. So, I honestly don’t know. We’ll see.”

Biles has a lot to be proud of, that is clear. She has made it clear that she will continue to speak out about mental health, as well.

“I am very proud of the work accomplished to reach this point,” she said, “and I will continue to be the voice of the voiceless.”

George Baldock, a Premier League defender, was found dead at his home Glyfada, southern Athens in October of 2024.

Close to one year later, we’ve found out the official cause of death for the former professional soccer player.

Baldock, who played for MK Dons and Sheffield United before moving to Greece, died in a drowning accident. He was found dead in a swimming pool at his home.

The results of his post-mortem examination have been released close to one year following his death. It’s a heartbreaking way for a professional athlete to pass away.

His family released a statement at the time of his passing.

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are once again on display in Season 2 of “America’s Sweethearts” on Netflix.

A lot of NFL teams have cheerleaders. However, only one has their own reality show. And that’s the Dallas Cowboys. 

Jerry Jones’ team, America’s Team, is big in just about every way (except for playoff performance as of late). The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are a massive brand outside of the football team. The Cowboys’ cheerleaders have millions of followers across social media and a massive fan base on their own.

Season 2 of “America’s Sweethearts,” which follows the 2024 edition of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, was released on Netflix earlier this summer.

In Episode 2, a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader hopeful reveals that when she previously tried out for the team, she was ultimately cut, due to some “racy” social media posts.

Ava Lahey, who is currently a member of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, was initially cut from the team, due to her social media posts.

Episode 2 of Netflix’s docuseries looks back at what happened.

“I remember Ava when she tried out, she was one of our younger candidates. She had posted some ‘provocative’ pictures if you will. Probably didn’t think a thing about it,” Kelli Finglass explained on the show.

“Just seemed a little self-promoting and not the character or humility or grace that I was looking for.”

Kelli added: “If I had seen these in the online application, I wouldn’t have brought you to training camp.”

Ava ended up being the last cut from the team. She was ultimately cut due to her social media posts. Finglass explained that while the team couldn’t control her social media posts, they didn’t feel comfortable with them at the time.

“It felt like my dance career was completely over,” Ava explained on the show.

Ava ended up making the team in 2024. She finished up her rookie season and received her rookie cheerleader “Pinkie” ring with several others.

The Cowboys, meanwhile, will open the 2025 season on Thursday, Sept. 4 against the Eagles.

But Dallas and its popular cheerleaders will celebrate their home opener on Sept. 14 against the New York Giants.

Dallas’ cheerleaders have always been popular, but in recent years, they have really exploded on social media. Several of the Cowboys’ top cheerleaders have social media followings into the high six or low seven-figures. Netflix recently released Season 2 of “America’s Sweethearts,” which documents the trials and tribulations – along with the successes – of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.

Veteran Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Caroline Sundvold, who was forced to retire due to injury, has developed a big following on social media. Her younger sister, Anna Kate, is currently a member of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. She recently received a big honor, as she was named a team captain heading into the 2025 season.

President Donald J. Trump has been doing a lot of golfing lately. According to a report from the Associated Press, the President of the United States has been averaging four-plus trips per month to his golf clubs across the country since taking office in late January. There might be nothing President Trump loves more than the sport.

But as the 79-year-old President of the United States get older, health issues could get in the way of his golf game.

President Trump was recently diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency. The condition, which often revolves around veins in the legs having difficulty returning blood to the heart, can cause blood to pool. If not treated properly, it can get dangerous.

Chris Pernell, a TV doctor often appearing on CNN – though, according to a report, does not currently practice as a physician – made an appearance this week, issuing a “warning” about President Trump’s health.

“It is a disease that is progressive,” Pernell said. “And what that means is that if there aren’t conservative treatments, elevation, compression, medication, if needed, to treat accompanying ulcers or skin changes, it can worsen and actually put a person at risk for deep venous thrombosis.

“If a person is sitting or standing for prolonged amounts of time, you can get chronic venous insufficiency, and while it is not life threatening, it can be debilitating,” Pernell continued. “You can develop ulcers in addition to skin discoloration. And if a person develops ulcers, you want to make sure those ulcers aren’t infected.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Jeremy Faust, an assistant professor of emergency medicine at Harvard Medical School, does not believe the condition to be that serious.

“‘It’s basically not alarming information, and it’s not surprising,” he told CNN.

One thing is clear, though: President Trump will be doing whatever is necessary to stay out on the golf course.

Two recent graduates have died in a “horrific” car accident this week.

A pair of recent high school graduates in Ohio were killed in a devastating crash in Columbus, Ohio over the weekend. They were reportedly traveling on Sawmill Road at the time of the crash, according to authorities.

Kellen Buss Jr., a witness, explained what was seen.

“As soon as they passed by me, the car started shaking, and it looked like they hydroplaned,” Kellen Buss Jr. told ABC 6. “They just started skidding, and skidding, and skidding.”

Buss was in another car driving along Sawmill. He and his friends just left the Sheetz parking lot.The adult and the teenager seated in the front of the car died at the scene. Their identities have not been confirmed by Columbus Police. No drugs or alcohol were involved, according to the crash report.A teenager in the back seat also was injured, but after receiving treatment at Nationwide Children's Hospital, is expected to survive.

Dublin Scioto High School Principal Tom Cochran released a statement.

“On Sunday, two recent Scioto High School graduates lost their lives following a serious car accident,” he said. “A current student was also injured and is receiving medical care. The loss of two young lives so full of promise is heartbreaking, and we know this news will be difficult for many. Grief affects everyone differently. Some may feel sadness, shock, confusion, or even anger. These emotions can come in waves and change throughout the day. It’s important for students and families to know that whatever they are feeling is valid, and that they are not alone.”

Adam Schefter was front and center for ESPN’s Cowboys blunder on Tuesday but apparently the insider didn’t even notice.

Yesterday “First Take” was quick to air footage of what was believed to be Dak Prescott throwing a touchdown to new Dallas receiver George Pickens at the team’s training camp. Only for it to come out that Cowboys practice didn’t even start until after the show was off the air.

The clip was apparently a years old video of Dak tossing to former wideout Brandin Cooks — which led to an embarrassing moment and an apology from moderator Molly Qerim.

During Wednesday’s appearance on 105.3 “The Fan” in Dallas, Schefter was asked when he realized that Cooks wasn’t Pickens. And it didn’t appear that he did…

“Yesterday? You mean like, George Pickens coming out and catching a touchdown on the first play of practice, is that what you mean?” Schefty asked. “Here’s the thing, you want to equate those two players. If George Pickens carried himself the way that Brandin Cooks did, George Pickens would be the greatest wide receiver in the league.”

“I’m alluding to the ESPN video that went viral with you guys on set showing the Cowboys practicing when that was from a couple years ago,” host Shan Shariff cut in. “Are you not aware of that?”

Schefter later confirmed that he had no idea about his network‘s mistake (while he was there) nearly 24 hours later — which made him visibly uncomfortable but to his credit he took it in stride.

It’s hard to imagine how someone who breaks so much news never received the info right on his doorstep. But when you’re dealing with the volume of stories that Schefter is its probably just a mosh pit.

Prayers are pouring in after a college athlete died suddenly at 21 years old this week.

A beloved women’s tennis player at a small school in Pennsylvania died this month. Toby Atwood, a rising senior at Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania, has died. She collapsed and passed away after running in the Presque Isle Half Marathon in Erie, Pa. on Sunday, July 20.

Atwood was the captain of the women’s tennis team, a 4.0 student and a member of the National Honor Society. The school is understandably devastated.

“Her presence touched the lives of so many, and she will be deeply missed,” Vice President for Student Life and Athletics Michael McKinney, Ed.D. ’02 said in a message to the campus community. “During this heartbreaking time, we mourn for Toby and extend our heartfelt sympathy to her family, friends, classmates, teammates, coach, instructors, and all who knew her.”

Atwood’s list of accomplishments is incredibly impressive:

Atwood, of Kittanning, Pa., was a standout in the classroom and on the court. A business administration and accounting double major and a recipient of one of the College’s full scholarship awards, she maintained a 4.0 GPA. Atwood was inducted into Alpha Chi, the National College Honor Society, which recognizes students in the top 5 percent of their class. She was also recently inducted into Chi Eta Sigma, the honorary society for commerce. Atwood served as president of the Zeta Tau Alpha women’s fraternity and was actively involved in many academic and leadership organizations across campus.In athletics, Atwood held the No. 1 singles position on the women’s tennis team and was a team co-captain. She served as president of Thiel College’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was elected president of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference SAAC in 2024. She received the College’s Tomcat Award last year for excellence in athletics, academics, and leadership.

“Please send your prayers to her family, friends, and loved ones during this tragedy. You will forever be loved and missed by us Tob,” the tennis team wrote.

A beloved college athlete has died during a half-marathon at the age of 21.

A college in Pennsylvania is mourning the loss of a student-athlete. She collapsed and later died during a half-marathon. She was a rising senior in college, being a captain of the women’s tennis team and a major campus leader. 

Toby Atwood, a women’s tennis player, died during the half-marathon. She had been running in the Presque Isle Half Marathon in Erie, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, July 20 when she collapsed.

“Her presence touched the lives of so many, and she will be deeply missed,” Vice President for Student Life and Athletics Michael McKinney said in a message to the college. “During this heartbreaking time, we mourn for Toby and extend our heartfelt sympathy to her family, friends, classmates, teammates, coach, instructors, and all who knew her.”

Atwood was one of the top students on campus. She was a business administration and accounting double major, while also being a recipient of the college’s full scholarship awards, maintaining an impressive 4.0 GPA.

The tennis player was also a member of Alpha Chi, the National College Honor Society. Atwood also entered Chi Eta Sigma, the honorary society for commerce, while serving as president of the Zeta Tau Alpha women’s fraternity.

Understandably, the school is devastated.

The Thiel College community is mourning the death of student-athlete Toby Atwood ’26, who passed away Sunday, July 20, after collapsing during the Presque Isle Half Marathon in Erie, Pa. Atwood was a rising senior, an accomplished member of the women’s tennis team and a campus leader.Atwood, of Kittanning, Pa., was a standout in the classroom and on the court. A business administration and accounting double major and a recipient of one of the College’s full scholarship awards, she maintained a 4.0 GPA. Atwood was inducted into Alpha Chi, the National College Honor Society, which recognizes students in the top 5 percent of their class. She was also recently inducted into Chi Eta Sigma, the honorary society for commerce. Atwood served as president of the Zeta Tau Alpha women’s fraternity and was actively involved in many academic and leadership organizations across campus.In athletics, Atwood held the No. 1 singles position on the women’s tennis team and was a team co-captain. She served as president of Thiel College’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was elected president of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference SAAC in 2024. She received the College’s Tomcat Award last year for excellence in athletics, academics, and leadership.

Brittney Griner was among the many in the sports world to react to the death of legendary rock star Ozzy Osbourne.

Osbourne, known as the front man for Black Sabbath, passed away this week. He was 76 years old. His family announced the news, just a couple of weeks after his final concert.

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis,” his family announced.

Griner, who is in her first season with the Atlanta Dream, took to social media to weigh in. She was clearly saddened by the death of the prominent rock star.

The former Baylor Bears star didn’t go with an Instagram Story or tweet, though. Instead, she decided to post a full Instagram photo in honor of the legendary rock star.

It’s clear that Osbourne meant a lot to Griner throughout her life.

“R.I.P TO THE GODFATHER OF HEAVY METAL!” she wrote.

It’s a classy move from Griner, who didn’t have to make a full social media post in response to Osbourne’s death. But clearly, she felt that it was important enough to do it.

Osbourne received tributes from many in the sports world – and the world as a whole.

His sister, Jean, detailed his final moments in an interview with The Mirror. 

“It was upsetting because he could not stand up straight,” Jean, 85, told The Mirror. “But he was still our John, still cracking the jokes.”

Congratulations are pouring in for longtime sideline reporter and studio host Taylor Rooks.

Rooks, 33, has kept her personal life pretty private over the years. She previously dated former NBA player Kendall Marshall and has been linked to some other athletes. However, in recent years, the TNT Sports and Amazon Prime reporter has kept her personal life extremely private.

However, on Wednesday evening, Rooks stunned the sports world, revealing that she got married. Most sports fans didn’t even know that she had been dating someone.

Rooks revealed her special day in an Instagram post.

“What a night. This is love 💍,” she wrote.

Congratulations are now pouring in for Rooks, who recently left TNT Sports, on social media.

“Congratulations ❤❤,” J.J. Watt’s wife, Kealia, wrote in the comment section.

“TRULY!!! ❤️❤️,” her Amazon Prime colleague, Kaylee Hartung, added on social media.

Rooks, who attended the University of Illinois and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, recently announced that she had left TNT Sports, too.

Taylor Rooks has been a rising star in the world of sports media for a long time, amassing a huge following on social media in particular. 

Wednesday night, the 33-year-old sports host, known for her work covering the NBA for TNT and the NFL for Amazon Prime, stunned fans with a relationship announcement. Rooks, who previously dated NBA player Kendall Marshall, has kept her personal life very private in recent years. Understandably, many of her fans have wanted to know what she has been up to.

Now, they do.

Rooks took to her Instagram page on Wednesday night with a stunning announcement.

Taylor Rooks is officially a married woman. The St. Louis, Missouri native and University of Illinois grad surprised everyone with a marriage announcement.

Former Fox Sports host Joy Taylor appeared to be a bridesmaid in the wedding. Taylor’s Amazon Prime colleague, Kaylee Hartung, congratulated her on the big day, too.

“TRULY!!! ❤️❤️” she wrote.

Rooks is promptly trending on social media, with many fans stunned – and many disappointed – by her announcement.

The veteran sports reporter has been announcing a lot of big news lately, too. Earlier this month, she revealed that her time with TNT Sports had come to an end.

While Lane Kiffin is gearing up for another college football season, the daughter of the Ole Miss Rebels head coach is getting ready for a season of her own.

Presley Kiffin, the daughter of Lane and Layla Kiffin, is a college volleyball player at USC. Lane Kiffin, of course, coached at USC from 2010-13, before getting fired. His daughter, Presley, announced her commitment to Southern Cal back in 2024.

“I am beyond grateful to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at the University of Southern California. A huge thank you to the USC coaching staff for this amazing opportunity. I want to thank all my coaches, family, friends, and especially @mizunolongbeach for their incredible support and guidance throughout the past couple years. So excited be a Trojan! FIGHT ON❤️💛,” she announced on Instagram.

Presley Kiffin, a Class of 2025 recruit, is hoping to make an impact for the USC Trojans during the upcoming season.

Presley Kiffin, who is from Long Beach, California, played in high school and at the club level. She played for Mizuno Long Beach at the club level while attending Mater Dei at the high school level. 

The USC Trojans are currently gearing up for their 2025-26 season. 

Presley Kiffin turned heads in a sizzling volleyball photo alongside her teammates. 

Lane Kiffin must be a very proud father to have a daughter who is not only smart enough to attend USC, but also athletic enough to play for one of the top volleyball schools in the country.

The Ole Miss Rebels head coach will surely be busy with football this fall, but the veteran college football coach is definitely going to be very interested in the USC Trojans’ 2025-26 women’s volleyball season, as well.

Prayers are pouring in after a 34-year-old college basketball assistant coach has died.

Daniel Waln, assistant coach for men’s basketball at Saint Leo University, has died. He was reportedly killed in a two-car accident while visiting with family in North Carolina. Waln, who previously coached at Coastal Carolina, was a standout athlete in high school before getting into coaching.

The former college basketball assistant coach played baseball, football and basketball, winning several championships and accolades at the high school level.

Prayers are pouring in for his friends and family members following this difficult loss.

“We are heartbroken by the sudden and tragic loss of Coach . Daniel was more than a coach, he was a mentor, a leader, and a bright spirit who made a profound impact on our student-athletes and the entire Saint Leo family. His passion for the game and commitment to our university were evident in everything he did. We will miss him deeply, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all who have the privilege of knowing him,” St. Leo AD Marcal Lazenby said. 

The school’s head coach, Spencer Henke, added: “It’s a tragic loss for our program, our university, and the entire college basketball community. Coach Waln made a profound impact on every life he touched, and I am beyond thankful for his commitment to helping me grow our program to the level I believe Saint Leo men’s basketball can and should be at. His passion, enthusiasm, and desire to make the most of every moment will live with me and our players for the rest of our lives. My condolences to the Waln family and all those impacted by this tragic loss. Please keep his loved ones and our program in your thoughts and prayers.”

It’s a tragic story.

Prayers are pouring in on social media after a “terrible” 100 MPH deadly crash on Wednesday. 

Three cars in Michigan were reportedly involved in the terrible crash. One car, allegedly speeding at greater than 100 MPH, lost control and made contact with another car. A third car ended up getting struck, as well.

The driver of the car speeding 100 MPH, a 19-year-old man, was reportedly pronounced dead on the scene. Meanwhile, another driver was injured. 

The report had troubling details:

Police say a 19-year-old Detroit man driving a 2023 Chevy Malibu had been speeding over 100 miles-per-hour on westbound I-96 at Kensington Road.Witnesses told police the Malibu was driving in the right lane before swerving into the middle lane, crashing into another car. Both cars lost control and crashed into a third vehicle.The Malibu turned over and crashed into a construction traffic trailer.The Malibu’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene. One other driver sustained minor injuries.

Prayers are pouring in for everyone involved on Wednesday evening.

“Speeding is so dangerous,” another fan added.

An investigation into the crash is underway, though authorities believe that speed was a factor.

Three cars were involved in a “horrific” deadly crash on Wednesday afternoon.

There was a three-car accident in Michigan on Wednesday morning. Three cars were involved in the crash in Livingston County. One of the drivers was reportedly speeding at more than 100 MPH. 

A 19-year-old man driving a 2023 Chevy Malibu was swerving in between lanes when he lost control and crashed into another car. A third vehicle ended up getting hit by the other two cars.

One person is dead and one is injured. From the report:

Witnesses told police the Malibu was driving in the right lane before swerving into the middle lane, crashing into another car.
