Art Briles has not landed a major coaching gig since the sexual assault scandal at Baylor led to his ouster. His son, Kendal Briles, continues to get jobs though.
The younger Briles was on staff under his father during the years in which the Baylor program had numerous reports and accusations of sexual assault within the program.
Kendal Briles landed back on his feet in 2017 as offensive coordinator under Lane Kiffin at FAU. After one year in Boca Raton, he moved back to Texas, to take the same position at Houston under Major Applewhite.
Over the last few weeks, Kendal Briles has been at the center of speculation surrounding the OC job at Florida State.
Those rumors are about to be kicked into hyper-drive.
After the Cougars' embarrassing 70-14 loss to the Army Black Knights in this afternoon's Armed Forces Bowl, Briles reportedly resigned from the Houston program.
The news comes amid serious speculation about Applewhite's future at Houston.
SB Nation's Steven Godfrey reports that his future as head coach of the Cougars is in jeopardy. In the same report, Godfrey confirmed that Briles is expected to join Willie Taggart's Florida State staff.
Additionally, offensive coordinator Kendal Briles is expected to leave for Florida State, per multiple sources.
The Briles hires at both FAU and Houston were met with significant criticism. Florida State is a much bigger program han both of those, though, and with some of the issues that have gone on in Tallahassee over the last decade or so, this is not going to be a popular move with many.
