Reports: Houston HC Tom Herman Has Met With Baylor

Update: Yahoo's Pat Forde and SB Nation's Steven Godfrey both say that sources close to Herman call the reports "ridiculous."

It does seem odd for a top coaching commodity to jump at a place in turmoil like Baylor, but the roster does have some serious talent. Ultimately, however, this does seem like a very unlikely move.Earlier: There are serious questions about the future of Baylor football after the ouster of Art Briles this spring, but according to a pair of reports, one of the hottest young coaches in the sport may be interested in the vacancy. 247Sports' Colt Barber says he's confirmed the original report by WFAN's Pete Mundo that Tom Herman has met with Baylor officials.

From the post on the meeting:

I have confirmed that Houston HC Tom Herman has met with Baylor in regards to their head football coaching position. The date, time and details of that meeting have not been confirmed, but the meeting between the two parties did indeed take place.

Herman was targeted by South Carolina, and also reportedly had interest in the Georgia job before resigning with Houston. New Baylor athletic director Mack Rhoades, who was hired away from Missouri on Wednesday, originally hired Herman at Houston, so there is a major connection there.

Herman will likely have his choice of jobs when he is ready to move on from the Cougars. Could Baylor really be the one that pulls him away?
