Texas President Greg Fenves Tweets Support For Houston To Big 12

In Big 12 expansion, conventional wisdom is that Houston's major disadvantage is being a Texas school trying to get into a league that already features four: Baylor, TCU, Texas, and Texas Tech. However, the Cougars may actually have support by a major player at the Big 12's most prominent school. Texas president Greg Fenves took to Twitter to publicly throw his support behind Houston as a candidate for the league's expansion.

">@UHouston for the conference. UH is a huge asset for Texas.

As we look at opportunities for Big 12 expansion, I support considering @UHouston for the conference. UH is a huge asset for Texas.

While Houston presents an extra competitor in-state for the Longhorns, and one that has already made waves on the field and in recruiting under head coach Tom Herman, it could also add another member to Texas' voting block when it comes to league matters.

Fenves joins Texas governor Greg Abbott, who said that expansion is a "non-starter" if it doesn't involve the Cougars.

Houston fans should feel pretty good about their odds right now.
