Watch: Western Kentucky Scores Touchdown On Pass To Offensive Tackle In Boca Raton Bowl
Western Kentucky vs. Memphis in the Boca Raton Bowl is one of the most exciting games of bowl season on paper. In the first quarter, we already have a touchdown by WKU tackle Forrest Lamp.
Lamp was named a third-team All-American by the AP, and during tonight's bowl game, he showed his versatility as a skill guy, if only for a moment. On 2nd & 7 from the Memphis 9-yard line, quarterback Mike White found Lamp with a screen, after drawing the defense to the right with a play action fake and roll-out. Lamp rumbled ahead for an easy touchdown.
The play was ruled legal, as White threw a backwards pass to Lamp, so it is technically a rushing touchdown for the offensive tackle. Either way, we think he and the Hilltoppers will take it.
Western Kentucky leads 14-10 at the end of the first quarter, after that trick play touchdown. The over/under for this one was 80 entering the game, so expect plenty more points down the stretch here.
