Chip Kelly is back in college football. Sort of.
Since Chip Kelly was let go by the San Francisco 49ers after last season, there has been no shortage of speculation as to what his next career move will be. Well, Kelly is still unemployed, but he’s not just sitting home.
Navy Athletics announced last night that Kelly was at Midshipmen football practice on Monday and is expected to be in attendance all week.
Former Oregon, Eagles and 49ers head coach Chip Kelly was at #NavyFootball practice today and is expected to be here all week.

It is not uncommon for out-of-work coaches to visit different schools during spring practice. It’s not clear what Kelly is doing while at Navy, whether he is helping in any way or merely observing. But given his level of success at Oregon, he’s clearly a welcome visitor.
Or, if you’re in the mood for a Chip Kelly conspiracy theory, he is eyeing up a potential new home. After all, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported that Kelly might have been intrigued if the Navy job had opened up in the off-season.
