Story: In a pivotal Atlantic 10 match up on Hawk Hill, the Owls and Hawks came in with identical conference records at 3-3. Each team desperately needed this win to improve its tournament resume. As the game played out, it was evident that these two teams were close in records; there was no lead greater then nine the entire game.
The game came down to the very end as St. Joes finally came back from a nine point deficit with five minutes remaining with two huge thee pointers by Carl Jones. Wyatt and C.J. Aiken traded layups to make it 66-66. St. Joe's converted an alley oop pass from Jones to Aiken to give the Hawks a two point lead. Wyatt came down and missed a tying layup, and had to foul St. Joes with 16 seconds left. Temple ended up getting the ball back after a missed foul shot. Khalif Wyatt took it all the way down the court, but it was not too be as Aiken blocked it out of bounds to end the game. Temple loses a close one to its fierce rival and falls to 3-4 in the Atlantic 10 as its tournament hopes fading.
