Temple Returns To Big East With A Dramatic Victory
Blocked field goals, missed extra points, and more.
That was fun.
The Temple Owls won the team's first Big East game in seven seasons, sneaking by a game South Florida squad 37-28.
Temple, clinging to a two-point lead after normally rock solid kicker Brandon McManus missed an extra point and a 22-yard field goal, looked like it had the game won with two minutes to go. The defense stopped South Florida on fourth and five. But a roughing the passer penalty and a delay of game sideline warning penalty gave the Bulls 32-yard line.
A minute later, South Florida lined up for a 45-yard field goal lead. Marcus Green, a defensive end from Scotch Plains, N.J., blocked the attempt.
On the next play, Montel Harris broke through for a touchdown. Game. Over.
