Temple Survives Dayton In A Crazy Finish
Score: Temple: 72 Dayton: 71
Star(s):Temple: Khalif Wyatt 20 Pts, 2 Ast, 2 Stl. Dayton: Devin Oliver 12 Pts, 12 Reb.
Story: In a pivotal Atlantic 10 match up, Temple came away with a one point victory to improve its conference record to 5-4.
It was not looking good for the Owls; they were down by 10 points with only four minutes to play. But Jake O'Brien and Scootie Randall both hit huge threes to cut the lead down. With seven seconds to play, trailing by two, Khalif Wyatt hit an NBA-range three to give Temple a one point lead.
Dayton got the ball back, but turned it back over to the Owls with some sloppy dribbling. Scootie Randall went to the line to put the game away but he missed both of his foul shots. On the ensuing inbound pass, Anthony Lee committed a foul before the ball was inbounded, giving Dayton two foul shots with only 1.3 seconds remaining. It was a questionable call to say the least. Devon Scott stepped up to the line to try and give Dayton the lead again but he missed both and Temple held on for the victory.
It was a big road win for Temple to improve its tournament resume.
