Carlton Davis, one of Auburn's top defensive players, will be out for tomorrow's Peach Bowl game against UCF.

Carlton Davis missed multiple days of practice in the run up to the Peach Bowl after coming down with an illness.

A few day ago, Gus Malzahn said that he thought Auburn was in "good shape" in reference to the Davis situation.

Today, Malzahn announced that Davis will, in fact, be out for Monday's game. From 247Sports:

"He will not play," Malzahn announced Sunday morning. "He had an illness earlier in the week and has not gotten better. He went home yesterday. We felt like he'd be better off there."

This is a big loss for Auburn, as it prepares to face an explosive UCF offense in Atlanta. Davis is an all-SEC cornerback and a potential high NFL Draft pick, if he decides to leave school early after this season.

He finished his season with 36 tackles and led Auburn with 11 pass break-ups.

Auburn and UCF kick off at 12:30 p.m. ET on Monday. Auburn is currently a 10-point favorite after opening at -8.5, per OddsShark.
