The Syracuse Orange were riding a five-game winning streak entering today’s matchup with Old Dominion, but Jim Boeheim’s crew couldn’t seal the deal at the Carrier Dome.
During their impressive victory over Georgetown last weekend, Syracuse finally started showing improvement on the offensive side of the ball. However, that didn’t carry over into this afternoon’s showdown with Old Dominion.
Not only did the Orange struggle to find scoring production outside of Tyus Battle and Elijah Hughes, but the Monarchs dominated them in the second half.
The Monarchs were carried by B.J. Stith, who finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
In one of the biggest surprises of this weekend, Old Dominion defeated Syracuse on the road.

Losing this game erases all the momentum that the Orange have built over the past few weeks. Now, Syracuse will need to rebound quickly, especially because of its upcoming matchup with the No. 14 Buffalo Bulls.
As for the Monarchs, this victory will improve their record to 8-3 on the season.
This could be a chaotic Saturday for college basketball.
