Boston College basketball landed some much-needed help tonight.
Illinois State grad transfer forward Deontae Hawkins has committed to Boston College, according to FanRag Sports’ Jon Rothstein.
Illinois State grad transfer Deontae Hawkins tells me he has committed to Boston College. Immediately eligible. Huge for Jim Christian.

The 6-foot-8 Hawkins is eligible immediately for the Eagles. He averaged 14.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game for Illinois State last year.
BC has gone 29-67 and 6-48 in the ACC over the last three seasons under head coach Jim Christian. The Eagles haven’t had a winning season since 2011, so the program is in a long down spell.
Perhaps the addition of Hawkins will help the Eagles take another step toward respectability in 2017-18.
